It is March already and spring is in the air, (time to spring forward is March 10) and time to think about spring cleaning…keeping your real estate investment in its best shape. This week I introduce you to a website (Real Simple-really a magazine) that directly emails me some interesting ideas once in a while, and I’m sharing those ideas with you this week. Clean homes sell faster!
The first idea comes from an article called 13 Ways to Make Your House Stay Cleaner…
First of all: sealing your garage floor. I’m always amazed when I walk into a home that has never had its garage floor painted. (Easy to track in that cement dust and dirt into your house.) A couple of summers ago, we had Handyman Kevin Hurd put on an epoxy paint with color flakes and a clear coat on top. I love it even more than the previously painted floor… water just bubbles right up and things do stick as much and leaves, dirt are easy to sweep out. Of course, like any floor, it’s slippery when it’s wet. Another plus when you sell your home!
Keep cleaning supplies in more than one spot so that they’re readily available. It’s easier to do the clean up job when you see it needs to be done, and not having to go far to get supplies.
If you still have any carpet left in your house, you might want to use rugs on top of carpets to keep them clean.
Keep a doormat at every entrance.
Clean baseboards with a dryer sheet.
For quick clean-ups…buy a compact vacuum stick. We happen to love our Dyson.
Seven Places You’re Forgetting to Clean:
This article mentions: vacuuming your mattress. Vacuuming helps remove the buildup of dust and dead skin cells which could also help allergy sufferers.
These articles recommend having a telescopic ceiling duster to help clean with cleaning ceiling fans and hard to reach places. Article also suggests using a pillowcase with the telescopic duster to clean your ceiling fans.
Watch a video on how to quickly clean your microwave with the use of water, vinegar and lemon.

Seven Cleaning Mistakes That Are Wasting Your Time
One idea includes…Cleaning your cleaning appliances, To clean out your dishwasher: Place a cup white vinegar on the top rack… For your washing machine, order cleaning tablets on Amazon that dissolve residue hidden inside the machine. My new washer came with “Affresh.”
Stop using dirty cleaning cloths or the wrong type of cloth. They recommend microfiber cloths. Microfiber cloths won’t leave lint behind and can be tossed into the wash machine whenever they need to be refreshed. The fibers can even brush away bacteria with or without the help of chemical cleaners.
Make sure you have the right tools for the right job. A telescopic duster can help with dusting those out of reach fan blades and shelves.
Don’t start cleaning from bottom to top, dust first then vacuum or sweep.
Stay ahead of the game and keep your house clean, a valuable real estate idea.

Richard Wright is the controversial author of Native Son, a groundbreaking work on the systemic discrimination of African-Americans. Green and Wright forge a deep respect for each other. Yet, in a heated discussion over a single page of their Broadway script, they argue about who has the right to tell the story of race, politics and social class. Ultimately the revelations dissolve their friendship in spite of their common goal to affect social change. EbzB Productions’ Native is based on the true story of Green and Wright’s collaboration.
