This last week I had a cold coming on so I took a trip over to our new walk- in clinic. Many of us were upset when CITRUS MEMORIAL closed down the Allen Ridge Family Practice Walk-in Clinic on 491 and I managed to not need them last year. But this week, at the first sign of a cold, I thought I would try the Quick Care Med Clinic next to the Post Office in Beverly Hills. I did walk right in at 2:15 pm-only one other person waiting. The office personnel were very friendly. They let you know… of course, it’s the beginning of the year so deductibles start all over-the office visit is $150. It was an easy check-in. I was dreading as a new patient that I’d have to fill in pages of questions. But registration was done on a computer with only basic information being asked.
I was taken back to be weighed (yuck in the middle of the afternoon!) and taken to a room where my temperature and blood pressure were taken. A few minutes later, I saw Marilyn (she is a PA-physcian’s assistant). She listened to my vitals. She was friendly, but I guess I wasn’t sick enough. She kept saying she thought I was viral and not having a bacterial infection. In any case, she didn’t want to give me a prescription for antibiotics. (I know people can overuse antibiotics.) She did end up giving me scripts for loratandine and prednisone. She did give me an antibiotic script and asked I not use it unless I really sick.
I was in and out in less than an hour. The office is close, but I guess for $150, I want to see a doctor???
