One of my goals for writing a weekly blog is to keep you informed as to how to keep your real estate investment (your home) in its best possible shape. This week I include some Bob Vila ideas about “as seen on tv,” poison and mold in your home …
If you don’t get the daily emails from Bob Vila, he has some interesting articles, and I am including ideas from four articles with links to the full articles.
“10 items As Seen on TV That You Should Actually Buy”
The items include Super Bright Switch (stick on light), TubShrooms (unclog bathtub/shower drain), Shoe Slotz (organizing your closet), Turbo Scrub Pro (cleaning aid) and Tactical Flashlight (special flashlight.)
“10 Ways You’re Accidentally Poisoning Your Home”
The article describes:

VOC (volatile organic compounds ) found in carpet, rugs and laser printers.
Canned air fresheners are a no no.

“14 Surprising Places Where Mold Hides”
Mold can be found in many places (sneaky) including: under the sink, toothbrush holder, file cabinets, appliance seals and drip pans, on/under floor mats, on your dishes…
“12 Big Mistakes that Lead to Mold and Mildew Growth”
Do not overwater house plants
Watch for drips…any tiny drip that you have in the house, toilet, sink, whatever, need to be fixed.
Don’t leave spills on your carpet
Raining indoors? You need to check for window leaks and leaks from the roof.
Don’t leave wet towels and clothing on the floor
Bathrooms are prime breeding ground for mold and mildew as they tend to be warm and damp. Keep the moisture level down: leave the door open after bath or shower; leave a fan going
Don’t store cardboard boxes in the garage they do hold moisture ((they are also breeding ground for cockroaches)
Do not store firewood inside a garage or house.
Keep yourself and your home healthy and in its best shape-you never know when you may have to place it on the market for sale!
