Last Friday we attended a performance at Circle Square Cultural Center in Ocala at The Top of the World Community. We had a wonderful time in this state-of-the-art facility and it got me thinking about what other venues do we have in the area where you could see a live music show? So I did some exploring and that’s what this week’s blog is about … Live shows in/near Citrus County.
The show that we saw Friday night at the Circle Square Cultural Center (which is about a half hour drive from Black Diamond) was called One Night in Memphis. It was an impersonator’s show. We do see a lot of impersonators shows around, but they can provide some fun and a time to reminisce. The show included Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Elvis. We are returning to the theater to see a Nashville Show. I’d like to see Journey Tribute! I wish we could see Kenny Cetera’s Chicago Experience. Check out their website for show details.
In Citrus County we have several venues where you can see live performances. If you are a social member of The Villages Citrus Hills, they have many live performances. But for most of us in CC, we need to look other venues. I have included websites for all of them so that you can view their upcoming performances.
The Curtis Peterson Auditorium, Lecanto High School: Charley Thomas’ Drifters March 24.
The Valerie Theater, downtown Inverness: EmiSunshine (14 year prodigy performer, singer/songwriter), March 1, 8 pm and April 20 @ 3PM The Valerie String Quartet
Citrus Springs Community Center, 1570 W Citrus Springs Blvd. The venue hosts shows occasionally. We enjoyed The Atlantic City Boys who are great, if you ever get to see them perform.
Inverness Old Courthouse, downtown Inverness has shows occasionally we saw a pretty good Rick Nelson impersonator there. Music at the Museum: Southern Exposure (Jazz) Feb 21, 6-9 pm
Rock Crusher Canyon, 275 S. Rock Crusher Rd ,Crystal River: 7 Bridges Concert-The Ultimate Eagles Experience April 9.
So if you enjoy a live music show once in a while, even if it’s not the original artist, try these different venues. And as always, I welcome your comments and ideas.
