Love Inverness’s motto “Small Town Done Right.” I love the new motto and have always said I love what they have done with the restoration of the City of Inverness. I am updating the eating areas in this great Citrus County town.
McLeod House continues to be one of my favorite restaurants: 207 N. Apopka, 352-727-7700: (http://www.mcleodhousebistro.com/, https://www.facebook.com/McLeod-House-Bistro-116391498396514/). The shrimp bisque (a special) is awesome and I still miss the lobster ravioli. Wonderful Chilean Sea Bass. Local favorite and rightfully so: Joe’s Family Restaurant 911 W. Main Street, 352-726-1688 (https://www.facebook.com/Joes-Family-Restaurant-204885619555008/). For lunch I had a delicious crab salad—had to bring the rest of the lunch plate home it was so big! The Rocky Road- BEST BROWNIE! I stop and get those now regularly. Stumpknockers (2 locations) On the Withlacoochee River (200 on the way to Ocala from 491). The downtown Inverness On the Square branch 110 Main Street, 322-726-2212 (http://stumpknockersonthesquare.com/, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Stumpknockers/148241255206461). has a nice atmosphere and has fried catfish and hush puppies and a large menu. NEW: Fox Den and Winery (closed and moving????)
The Sports Bars:
Pine Street Pub 108 N. Pine Ave, 352-341-0100, (http://www.pinestreetpub.com/, https://www.facebook.com/pinestreetpubinverness/?rf=761993077178079). Great flatbreads and sandwiches. Wings were delicious. Lobster Mac and Cheese-yummy! Mrs. Flaherty’s Irish Carbomb Cupcake-a sweet delight! We continue to go back to this cozy bar/ restaurant! New owners: Now owned by the Pine Street Pub owners, The Cove Pub will re-open In October 12: 242 S. Cove Camp Pt, 352-344-5894, https://www.facebook.com/Cove-Pub-Restaurant-118015551566790/). A drive from downtown Inverness. Casual dining. Used to be noted for its great big burgers and the best wings around. We tried Coaches Pub and Eatery 114 W. Main St, 352-344-3333 (http://www.coachspubeatery.com/). for wings. They were good-a bit salty. They make one of the best house salads I have ever been served! Nice sports bar atmosphere too.
Little Italy Deli and Bakery 124 Apopka, 352-726-5044, (https://www.facebook.com/Little-Italy-Deli-Bakery-129209630475121/ Quite the dining dinner experience. The owners are the entertainers and the food is delicious. Call for a private party dinner reservation. They are open for lunch and the menu is extensive with salads and paninis. Angelos Ristorante 301 W. Main St, 352-341-0056 (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Angelos-Pizzeria-and-Ristorante/147760385240626). I love their brick oven pizza, clams linguine and antipasto. Also NEW: La Cantina de Mexico 104 S Hwy 41, 352-423-1362 (http://www.lacantinademexico.com/index.html,
https://www.facebook.com/lacantinademexico/info?tab=overview).Cute decor. My husband’s burrito was excellent. My taco salad was more like a salad with grilled chicken. Chips and salsa were excellent. Fairly NEW: Las Delicias Cubanas 110 Hwy 41, 352-341-7725 (http://lasdeliciascubanas.com/, https://www.facebook.com/lasdeliciascubanas/?fref=ts). New place for Cubans and they are the best Cubans. The restaurant was still evolving –not much to look at and had no iced tea or potato chips. I can’t be the judge of their other Cuban specialties since I do not eat them. Never been to Lin Garden 238 Hwy 41, 352-726-5899, (http://lingardenii.takeweborders.com/, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lin-Garden-Buffet/335584673309400). I have not been there…noted for buffets.
