I revised a previous article on Citrus County technology education/help.
What are the 5 things that will use up your phone’s battery life? See the article below. This is the kind of info a CMUG membership can help with: timely articles, up-to-date info, email help and classes! See their membership and class info below.
Killing your iPhone battery: http://www.zdnet.com/article/the-five-things-that-kill-your-iphones-battery-the-fastest/
Technology is wonderful when it works…but as they say, “garbage in garbage out”…You have to know what you are doing when it comes to computers, i-devices and i-phones. Where can we get that help here in Citrus County?
We do have several resources in the area where you can take classes and/or get technological help.
Our local library, Central Ridge (Roosevelt-Forest Ridge roads in Beverly Hills) has computer classes as well as other fun activities….check out their calendar on their website:
Withlacoochee Technical College (Hwy 44 on the way to Inverness) offers adult ed classes. Here is a link to their website and adult education class schedule: www.wtcollege.org
You can join CMUG (Citrus Macintosh Users Group) for $20 (individual) $30 (family) and have access to classes and help sessions for the MAC computer, iPhone and/or idevice help or info classes. I have found them to be fabulous help. Here is the info from their website and a copy of the topics/classes being offered this month.
“CMUG is a tax-exempt, non-profit educational organization, open to all who want to learn about their Macintosh computers and iDevices. As the world sees more people gravitate to Apple products, CMUG is a club devoted to both the die-hard Macintosh user and to those just beginning to enjoy these wonderful products. We are located in Citrus County, Florida, and meet at Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, 2540 Norvell Bryant Highway (Highway 486), in Lecanto, FL.”
CMUG Membership entitles you to free Help Sessions and home help, access to the CMUG-list (email help) and no cost classes.
(Annual dues are $20 for an individual, $30 for a family)
Here are the events for the remainder of March:

Learning Tip: In iBooks, do a search for “guide” There are Guides for your computer, device, operating system and many Apple applications.
Most of the Guides are free, well written and great references.
(iBooks is installed on both Macs and iPads/iPhones.)
Education in this technological society is available close by. We just have to make and take the time to get help. ENJOY!
