This week a short restaurant update of recent re-visits to area establishments. And a question: Where Do You Like to Have Dry Wings?

Art and I went to Marianas Stinky Rose in Hernando (in the Public Shopping Center).   It’s under new ownership. They serve Northern Italian cuisine. We both had the veal marsala and it was very good.  Although the bread is homemade and good, Art prefers crusty Italian bread. It just so happened we were there on Wednesday,  and on Thursday The Chronicle ran a thorough article on the background of the new owners. I am including that link:

Always a pleasure dining at Cajun Jimmy’s Seafood Seller. (Hwy 19, Crystal River)  Fresh fish and great crab cakes.

Good Italian:  Enrico’s (Inverness) Many order the grouper there. A lot of food for the price but do not be in a hurry; food slowly prepared for each patron.  Michael Anthony (Hwy 19 Homosassa) also plenty of food for the money.  Good pizza and authentic Italian… I am told …especially the special: Broccoli rabe and sausage over pasta.

One of our favorite places for lunch is The Front Porch in Dunnellon (Hwy 41.) Although the food is good, we mainly go there to have pie-we almost always have the lemon meringue.

We were disappointed in our dry wings that we had at Pine Street Pub this week. They’re much smaller than they used to be,  although they’re tasty.   Just wondering where do you like to have wings?   The Chronicle voted Bubbaques (Crystal River) as having the best hot wings… we will venture there soon to try them.

We went the New England Cafe (Beverly Hills Hwy 491) last Saturday to have lunch,  only to find they only serve breakfast on Saturday and Sundays.

Jimmy T’s New York Deli is still our favorite place for lunch!  (Hernando, Hwy 486; Donovan Square).  Chicken noodle soup everyday (and another soup choice always available).  Boers Head lunch meat.  Great Greek Salad and crispy wrap.
