This week I thought I would mention the places we have had carryout food orders during this COVID-19 times of no “dine in” restaurants. Included are website and/or facebook links for viewing menus. I also mention some new restaurants coming to the area as reported by the Citrus County Chronicle.
We order every week, carryout from our Black Diamond Club restaurant. The menu changes weekly and there are daily specials. (Anyone who lives in Black Diamond may order carryout). Art enjoys the turkey dinners! Enough turkey for lunch the next day. I really liked the shrimp picante. The meatballs and spaghetti was a huge portion and good. The fish and chips are very good and good portion. T-Th: Order between 11-3:30; it is a 5 pm pick up time.
Also to go orders 11-3 Saturday and Sunday. Menu changes weekly.
772-313-0882. Pick up is at the left side of the building just past the pool area.
next week’s menu:
We had a very good lunch at Cattledog Roasters. We had a delicious sandwich:
Griddled Apple Butter Turkey : Cranberry walnut bread lathered with old fashion apple butter topped with sliced smoked turkey, goat cheese, bacon and arugula, griddled to perfection. Go to their website to see what locations are open (Crystal River is temp closed). We also like the hog wrap now available.
We also had a yummy chicken salad sandwich with applewood smoked bacon on rye from Wawa for lunch. (order your speciality sandwiches at the kiosk). We like the ready-made croissant breakfast sandwiches located at the checkout counter. (Hwy 491-486)
We’ve had several takeout dinners from Bankok Thai. Our favorites: the spring rolls, wonton soup, their cashew signature dishes and/or pad thai. They are excellent at carryout orders and the food arrives home still very hot. 352-746-0443; 4025 Lecanto Hwy, Beverly Hills
We tried some baby back ribs from the Hardwood Smokehouse now located next to Rural King in the Crystal River Mall. The ribs were meaty but a little dry. Their coleslaw and cornbread “hoecake” are delicious. 352-732-3677
For our “Monday” anniversary dinner (hard to find a place open on Mondays), we ordered carry out from Katch 22. I had the yummy Maryland crabcakes (2 huge cakes). Their salad of the day is excellent and Art enjoyed his ribeye steak and it was cooked perfectly even as a carryout! Key lime pie as good as my recipe! Their menu changes weekly. 2924 W. Gulf To Lake Hwy. 352-746-6691
We had Mexican carry out from Los Magueyes: I had a combination chicken dish and Art had a combination beef dish with refried beans and they were very good. They do give you the chips and some salsa but ask for extra salsa because they are a lot more chips than salsa.
Beverly Hills: 352-270-9198
Also a restaurant in Inverness: 352-765-3914
We had pizza from Brothers Pizza and Art‘s favorite dish is the spaghetti with meatballs and Italian sausage. 352-564-9374; 6746 Hwy 44 (Gulf-to-Lake Hwy) near Publix.
We enjoyed the “Augusta” sandwich from Nicky B’ All American. Heritage Shopping Center near Citrus Hills. 352 513 4860
I have heard good reports on carryout orders from:
Lecanto’s World Fusion (sushi and speciality dishes) 1988 N Future Terrace off 486, 352-513-3800. http://www.worldfusionsushi.com/ and
Crystal River’s Seafood Seller ((352) 228-4936) for Maryland style crab cake, gumbo, clam chowder and fresh fish. https://www.seafoodsellerandcafe.net/
from my reader: “Another good carryout is Mariana’s Stinky Rose. They have Italian. Everything that we have had is great. The portions are very large..enough for dinner the next day.” 2649 Forest Ridge Blvd (Publix), 352-270-8432 Pick and delivery!
NEWER Restaurant to try:
Boulevard Bistro in Citrus Springs has re-opened and they do have carry out during this time. The Bistro offers a lunch menu and dinner specials each day ( this is former Mango Grill from many years ago. 352-897-5155; 9576 Citrus Springs Blvd.
RESTAURANTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO:
A new restaurant is coming to (486-491) near Walmart…Glory Days Grill with shopping stores. From the Chronicle:
“Glory Days is a sports-themed family restaurant — plenty of TVs for game-watching and a laid-back ambience. Tables and booths have individual volume-controlled speakers and many sites have private banquet facilities and catering.Diners can order a variety of appetizers, sandwiches and entrees, including nachos, quesadillas, wings, fish, burgers, chicken, steaks, ribs and salads. There’s also craft beer and wine. The chain has 38 locations in five states. The name originates from the concept of the “glory days” or “good ol’ days” of sports and famous moments in sports history.”
Another place that would be ready… will be the Florida Cracker Riverside Resort on the Homosassa River. It is the former Riverside Resort – redone- and the new Monkey’s Bar is also ready to open. 5297 South Cherokee Way in Homosassa.
Fish Tales will be opening at 4522 US Highway 19 inside the Homosassa Square. The new owners with the 38 years of restaurant experience, are just waiting for the crisis to pass. They will have seafood and steaks, sandwiches and salads plus there will be a full liquor bar. You can visit their website to get a sneak peek at their menu. 352-419-5530
