THIS blog revisits an earlier blog on our local Citrus County Library. In talking with hubby, he mentioned we need to explore the free audio books that the library offers. He estimates that with membership and purchases he spends $300 a year on audio books…read on what our library has to offer!
I was amazed at what our local CENTRAL RIDGE Library has to offer the bookworms of the area-it is not just a place for dusting bookshelves!
The library is more than collections of books. Go in and browse the Florida book section or the Most Popular Reads. Our library has Xeroxing machines (15 cents a copy), computer stations for public use as well as a computer lab for classes, tai chi classes, free movie showings, adult craft classes, meeting rooms for groups like the beaders, the once a month Master Gardener Program and various musicians. There are activities planned for all ages including: BEADING BABES (Mondays); MOTHER GOOSE TIME 11 am; SCRABBLE GAME (Mondays); GETTING STARTED WITH COMPUTERS, HYSTERICAL WRITING GROUP, CREATIVE TIE DYE; GETTING STARTED WITH MICROSOFT WORD; ASK THE MASTER GARDENER; LA LECHE LEAGUE; EXCEL INTERMEDIATE; and RIDGE READERS BOOK CLUB. You can visit the library website for a calendar of events as well as the latest and hottest titles to read/and or listen to. You can access a free subscription to “Ancestry.” The library has some technical help available for “free” for your tablets and phone devices. If you are looking for a special book not in our local library, Central Ridge is a part of the inter library system and can usually locate the book from another library.
The website is well-organized and you can search all the libraries’ calendars, classes and downloadables: http://www.citruslibraries.org
AUDIO BOOKS: You need a library card and pin (your pin is the last 4 digits of your card). Download from their site an app called Miss Libby. Download your audio book of choice and the audio book stays on your device for two weeks and returns to library automatically.
You can check out up to 20 books to read for two weeks at a time. You can check out 10 Audio books for up to two weeks. And the latest are “e-Books” for your devices. You may download seven for two weeks. Access “Overdrive Listen” from their website and download to listen or read books on your computer, iPad, tablet, phones, Kindles etc. You will need: a Citrus County Library card, PIN you have established (same as above) from the library card, e-reader, computer, or other digital device and necessary software access. Library cards are free! The Central Ridge library is open Monday-Wednesday 9-7; Thursday & Friday 9-5, and Saturday 10-4. It is located at 425 W. Roosevelt in Beverly Hills.
