This week I remind you of Duke’s Energy Efficient Home Program and give you the dates of some events coming to CC this fall.
My husband mentioned the other day that the LED lights he put into our post lamps are lighting even after a year. I often wondered how much it cost to have lights on in the lamp posts since some people seem to put one in and leave the other sockets empty. Could they be saving that much money? SO I asked Duke and here is the cost:
If there are 5 bulbs in the coach (post) light at 60 watts per hour, and the lights are on 5 hrs a day, the cost will be approximately $6.00/mth. IF the LED’s are in the light sockets, the same lumens of light (60 Watts) would only be costing 9 watts an hour, not 60 watts. The savings would be: $5.00/mth.
We are using 25 watt LED bulbs so that is 100 watts. If I am figuring it right…They are on dusk to dawn, so it still costs less than $5 a month to have LED lights on. It is nice to have our neighborhoods lit up!
Duke’s Energy Efficient Home Program: It is still available and worth your time. You can also do the program over the phone and on line. Call 866-821-5343 for more info. Here is a link to the blog I wrote that explains what Duke does when they come to your home.
