We have two new restaurants to add to the Citrus County restaurant list:
Hernando: Mariana’s the Stinky Rose and Lecanto: Katch 22. Both restaurants have excellent menus, delicious food and good service. At Katch 22 (Rusty Duck building remodeled and new owners 352-746-6910) everyone raved about their grouper and my lobster crab ravioli appetizer was delish! It is a noisy restaurant and owners are working on this problem. The Stinky Rose https://www.facebook.com/TheStinkyRose/?ref=br_rs&hc_ref=SEARCH&fref=nf; 2649 Forest Ridge Blvd (Publix), 352-270-8432. Two at our table had a different veal dish and they agreed they were excellent. One ordered spaghetti and meatballs and the delicious meatballs looked liked mini meatloaves! My seafood pasta was loaded with shrimp, calamari, clams, etc.
Both restaurants are very busy places. You can make a reservation at Katch 22.
Updating a previous restaurant blog:

DUNNELLON/HOLDER: The Front Porch Restaurant & Pie Shop (12039 Hwy 41, 352-489-4798, http://www.frontporchpieshop.com/ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Front-Porch-Restaurant-Pie-Shop/126107277496204?fref=ts) has great pies, good Cubans and a nice luncheon menu. I have not had dinner there. Have not been to Bently’s (11920 Hwy 41, 352-465-5810) in years, found the food and service inconsistent – they have been in business for awhile now. The Pizza Joint Wood Fire (352-564-1300, https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Pizza-Joint-Wood-Fire-Pies/283180241724291). Have not been there and have heard good and bad reviews. Worth a try. Had nice lunches at the Green Valley Amish Market and Deli , new location: 2780 North Florida Ave (41). (https://www.facebook.com/greenvalleysmarket/). They serve huge sandwiches. It is also a store for Amish goodies. Cattledogs Coffee House , 2416 Heritage Oaks, 352-249-3166, has a nice selection for lunch, light breakfast and great coffee. Sabina’s Diner & Ice Cream Shop (2400 Hwy 41, 352-637-1308. Food was okay and reasonable. Try Red’s (8411 Carl Rose Hwy (200), 352-344-4322, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Reds-Restaurant/111636325541824): Great menu, HUGE portions, great service! Open for breakfast and lunch only. Expect a wait at peak times.
HOMOSASSA: Waterfront dining at Riverside Crab House– (5297 S Cherokee, 352-628-2474, http://www.riversideresorts.com/RiversideCrabHouse.html) In addition to regular restaurant hours, they offer a cruise and dinner package. For a resort area eatery, the food is okay and it is fun to be on the water and to also see Monkey Island. Yes…real monkeys. Voted one of the ten most unusual spots in Florida! The Freezer Tiki Bar (5590 South Blvd, 352-628-2452, https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Freezer/497426656936992?fref=tsA favorite of locals, prices are cheap–menu is limited: cole slaw, chips and salsa, hotdogs… but great peel and eat shrimp and seasonal catches: Alaskan king crab legs, blue crabs and stone crabs. Try the steak (thin) night on Wednesday. Don’t dress up to dine here; this is a warehouse with a boat dock with boaters and locals coming to enjoy the fun. Neon Leon’s is now The Suncoast Bar & Grill 10350 W Yulee, 352-621-3663 www.suncoastdiner.com Menu features all day breakfast and not for prime rib special. Coyote Café Sandwich Shop (10823 Yulee, 352-503-2030, https://www.facebook.com/RiverSafarisCafe/) is excellent lunch choice for variety (a continually changing menu) and good tasty food. Newer eatery: Biscuit Barn (3297 Hwy 19, 352-765-4727, https://www.facebook.com/pages/The biscuit-barn/9045259596047. Has nice reviews I have not been there.
